Halmstad, Sweden, 27 February 2025 – Sweden has taken a significant step toward a sustainable energy future with the launch of one of its first hybrid solar parks in Halmstad. This innovative project, developed by Solarwork Sverige and Powerworks Energy, combines solar power with advanced energy storage to enhance grid stability and energy efficiency. Sungrow, a global leader in renewable energy solutions, played a crucial role by supplying the inverters and Energy Storage System (ESS).
The hybrid solar park is expected to generate over 7,000 MWh of clean electricity annually, ensuring reliable energy supply during peak demand. Sungrow's PV inverters and PowerTitan 1.0 ESS were key to the project's success, highlighting the company's commitment to efficient and comprehensive energy solutions.
The project was driven by the need for cost-effective, on-demand energy. Carl Kuylenstierna, CEO of Sperlingsholms Gods, the plant's owner, stated, "Solar energy is a sustainable way to produce electricity, and this park ensures we generate power when it's needed most—during the day—at a low marginal cost."
The 6.6 MWp solar installation features 11,928 bifacial solar panels, supported by 20 Sungrow SG250HX inverters, known for their high efficiency and compatibility with bifacial technology.
To further optimize energy use and support grid stability, the park integrates a 4 MW / 4.4 MWh battery storage system using Sungrow's PowerTitan 1.0. This AC-coupled system allows the solar panels and battery storage to operate independently, enhancing flexibility and reliability. Fredrik Lyckvind, CSO at Powerworks Energy, explained, "Sungrow's technology was chosen for its market-leading performance in Nordic climates. The PowerTitan 1.0's 1C system enables rapid charging and discharging, while its liquid-cooled design reduces operating costs and ensures long-term stability."
The project was completed efficiently, thanks to Sungrow's user-friendly and durable solutions. Fredrik Liljehov, Head of Utility at Solarwork Sverige, noted, "This is one of Sweden's first hybrid solar parks, with nearly 12,000 panels producing 7,000 MWh annually. The SG250HX inverters were ideal for handling large energy loads and ensuring flexible installation."
Raphael Henkel, Sungrow's Regional Manager for Sweden and Finland, emphasized the project's significance: "This collaboration highlights the growing demand for integrated solar and storage solutions. Sungrow is committed to delivering innovative technology that supports grid stability and accelerates the clean energy transition."
As Sweden advances toward a greener future, the Halmstad hybrid solar park sets a new standard for renewable energy projects, demonstrating the potential of combining solar power with smart storage solutions to create a cleaner, more resilient grid. This aligns perfectly with Sungrow's mission: *Clean power for all*.
