Farasis Energy: Leading Sodium Battery Technological Innovation and Reshaping the Industry Landscape

Sodium Battery

Amid the global energy transition and the booming new energy vehicle market, sodium batteries are emerging as a crucial technological path following lithium batteries due to their multiple advantages. Farasis Energy, a world-leading power battery solutions provider, has made significant achievements in the sodium battery field, driving innovation and growth across the entire industry.

In recent years, with fluctuating lithium prices, sodium battery development has garnered attention. As lithium prices began to decline, some believed sodium batteries would lose market appeal due to a reduced cost advantage. However, this price drop has proven to be a "double-edged sword" for the sodium battery industry. On one hand, the lower lithium price weakened sodium batteries' cost advantage, temporarily dimming their market prospects. On the other, it has driven the sodium battery industry to reduce costs through various methods, such as advancing process maturity, strengthening technological innovation, and promoting scaled production, thereby enhancing its competitiveness.

In fact, the advantages of sodium batteries go beyond cost. First, sodium salt raw materials are abundant and inexpensive, granting sodium batteries a notable advantage in raw material costs. Compared to the ternary cathode materials used in lithium-ion batteries, sodium batteries use iron-manganese-nickel-based cathode materials, cutting raw material costs by half. Secondly, due to the characteristics of sodium salts, low-concentration electrolytes can be used, further reducing costs. Additionally, sodium ions do not form alloys with aluminum, allowing aluminum foil to be used as a current collector for the anode, which reduces costs by about 8% and decreases battery weight by approximately 10%. Finally, sodium batteries have a no-overdischarge feature, allowing discharge down to zero volts, which enhances battery safety and stability.

Farasis Energy's breakthroughs in the sodium battery field are based on these advantages. Facing key technological bottlenecks such as energy density and cycle life, Farasis Energy has increased R&D investments, optimizing battery materials, improving battery structure, and enhancing battery management systems to drive continuous sodium battery technology upgrades. Currently, Farasis Energy's sodium-ion pouch batteries achieve an energy density between 140-160Wh/kg and retain over 90% capacity retention in low temperatures. These impressive product performances lay a solid foundation for sodium batteries' widespread application in scenarios like two-wheelers, base stations, low-speed vehicles, and commercial energy storage.

Farasis Energy has not only achieved technical breakthroughs but has also demonstrated foresight and adaptability in market layout. Early on, while many companies were still observing, Farasis Energy began collaborating with several well-known companies to explore sodium battery applications in the new energy vehicle sector. In the first half of 2023, Farasis Energy announced the launch of a sodium battery mass production plan and partnered with Jiangling Motors' New Energy division to release the world's first sodium battery-powered A00-class electric model, the EZS EV3 Youth Edition Sodium Battery Version. The launch of this model marks sodium batteries' transition from theory to practice, injecting new vitality into the new energy vehicle market. According to data from market research agency EVTank, this model quickly gained market recognition upon launch, with orders continuing to climb, solidifying Farasis Energy's commercial exploration in the sodium battery field.

Looking ahead, the sodium battery market still has substantial development potential. As a leading enterprise in the power battery field, Farasis Energy will continue to drive the R&D and application of sodium battery technology, guiding the industry toward a greener, more efficient, and sustainable future.
