The AS700D, China's first independently developed electric manned airship by AVIC, successfully completed its maiden test flight in Hubei, marking a significant milestone in the country's green aviation sector. Equipped with high-performance batteries from EVE Energy, specifically designed for low-altitude aviation, the 10-seat airship achieved zero emissions and low-noise operation, reaching a top speed of 80 km/h and an altitude of 3,100 meters.
As China's inaugural electric manned airship, the AS700D represents a comprehensive upgrade from traditional fuel-powered models. EVE Energy's advanced lithium-ion battery system enables high-performance operation, supporting an 8C pulse discharge and a continuous 3C output, ensuring the airship meets power demands under complex conditions. The battery system also features a dual-layer module and parallel redundancy design, enhancing safety by allowing continued operation even if one module fails.
During the test flight, the airship executed four vertical take-offs and landings, demonstrating exceptional stability and maneuverability. Pilots noted the airship's ease of control, comfort, and significantly reduced noise levels. "EVE Energy's batteries have greatly improved the airship's balance and maneuverability, ensuring reliable performance in noise-sensitive and environmentally conscious areas," stated Zhou Lei, Chief Designer at AVIC Special Vehicle Research Institute.
This successful flight thoroughly evaluated the AS700D's performance and power capabilities, paving the way for future applications.
