On July 13 local time, at the award ceremony of the Automotive Innovation Award held in Frankfurt, Germany, CATL, with its breakthrough Kirin battery technology, won the award of "Powertrain, the most innovative supplier of automotive enterprises" again.

CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited), founded in 2011, is one of the first power battery manufacturers with international competitiveness in China. It focuses on the research, development, production and sales of power battery systems and energy storage systems for new energy vehicles, and is committed to providing world-class solutions for global new energy applications. Its core technologies include materials, cells, battery systems R&D and manufacturing capacity of the whole industry chain, such as Battery recycling and secondary utilization.

Benefiting from its outstanding and innovative achievements in the field of electric vehicle batteries, CATL stood out from the 100 candidates and became the only Chinese company to win all the awards in this year's selection.

The "Automotive Innovation Award" has been jointly initiated by two international authoritative institutions, the German Automotive Management Center (CAM), and PwC, one of the four major accounting firms, since 2012.

Every year, the "Automotive Innovation Award" organizes a review panel composed of experts from various fields such as industry, science, consulting, and media. Based on a CAM research database, the innovation capabilities of global automotive suppliers are analyzed and evaluated, and the most outstanding automotive innovation achievements are selected. In 2023, a total of 300 innovative projects from 100 internationally renowned automotive suppliers participated in this selection.

This is the second time that CATL has won this award. Two years ago, CATL became the first enterprise in the world to win this award by virtue of the outstanding innovation of "100kWh high energy density battery technology".

The panel of experts highly recognized the innovation ability of CATL, especially the Kirin battery technology: "Through innovative battery pack design and cooling concepts, CATL has created a solution that can significantly improve the performance and efficiency of electric vehicles. The improvement of CTP3.0 group efficiency enables Kirin batteries to have higher energy density, achieve more effective space utilization, and thus increase their range and improve their battery performance."

The Kirin battery was officially released in June 2022, with a global record for system integration, a volume utilization rate of over 72%, and a system energy density of up to 255Wh/kg, easily achieving a full vehicle range of 1000 kilometers.

This year, Michelin, ZF Friedrichshafen, Nvidia and other international front-line enterprises won other awards of "the most innovative vehicle enterprise supplier" in the same period as CATL.
