On September 25, SAIC-GM announced that it had joined hands with CATL to launch the industry's first 6C ultra-fast charging lithium iron phosphate battery.
SAIC-GM said that the new products will be put into use starting next year based on the newly upgraded Autoneng quasi-900V high-voltage battery architecture, unlocking a more efficient and convenient fast charging experience.
According to reports, the 6C ultra-fast charging lithium iron phosphate battery incorporates a number of atomic-level fast charging technologies in the battery field. Including ultra-electronic network cathode technology, second-generation graphite fast ion ring technology, ultra-high conductivity electrolyte formula, nano-level ultra-thin SEI solid electrolyte interface membrane, optimized high-porosity isolation membrane, etc.
In terms of super-electronic network cathode technology, the battery uses fully nanosized lithium iron phosphate materials to build a super-electronic network that extends in all directions, thereby improving electrochemical reaction efficiency, enhancing charging efficiency, and ensuring battery performance stability.
In terms of second-generation graphite fast ion ring technology, the battery is equipped with multi-gradient layered pole pieces to build a "highway" for current conduction, significantly shortening charge and discharge times, achieving higher energy density and higher cycle stability. .
In terms of the ultra-high conductivity electrolyte formula, the battery effectively increases the conductivity and reduces the viscosity of the electrolyte, enhances the desolvation ability of lithium ions, and greatly improves the conductivity, electrochemical stability, and safety of the battery core.
In terms of nanoscale ultra-thin SEI solid electrolyte interface film, it reduces the internal resistance of the battery, improves charging power and efficiency, and at the same time generates less heat during the charging and discharging process, improving thermal stability.
In terms of the optimized high-porosity isolation membrane, the battery improves and upgrades the lithium-ion liquid phase transmission rate through high porosity and low tortuosity pores, bringing a qualitative leap to the charging speed.
Based on this, the 6C ultra-fast charging lithium iron phosphate battery can be charged in 5 minutes at an ultra-fast charging station, and the battery life can be increased by more than 200 kilometers, which greatly alleviates the battery life anxiety of pure electric vehicle users.
SAIC-GM said that the joint launch of 6C ultra-fast charging lithium iron phosphate battery technology with CATL not only sets a new technical benchmark for the industry, but also demonstrates SAIC-GM's forward-looking vision on the new energy track, and cooperates with the Pan-Asia Automotive Technology Center Excellent R&D capabilities for continuous innovation. "In the future, SAIC-GM will continue to work with top industry partners to bring more intelligent, efficient and convenient new energy travel solutions to consumers and jointly promote the sustainable and healthy development of the new energy vehicle industry."
