BYD Energy Storage and Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) have finalized agreements for the world's largest grid-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) deployment, totaling 12.5GWh. Combined with their prior 2.6GWh collaboration, the partnership now represents a monumental 15.1GWh of energy storage infrastructure. This landmark project advances Saudi Arabia's renewable energy transition under Vision 2030 while cementing BYD's leadership in ultra-large-scale energy storage solutions.  

Strategic Alignment with Vision 2030  

The collaboration underscores SEC's commitment to adopting cutting-edge storage technologies to optimize energy efficiency and accelerate renewable integration. This initiative directly supports Saudi Arabia's goal to derive 50% of its energy from renewable sources by 2030, addressing grid stability challenges caused by increasing renewable penetration while ensuring reliable power supply during peak demand periods.  

Technological Innovation  

BYD will deploy its next-generation MC Cube-T systems featuring proprietary Cell-to-System (CTS) super-integration technology, achieving an industry-leading Vcts ratio exceeding 33%. The 12.5GWh BESS infrastructure will be strategically distributed across five Saudi sites, enabling flexible and cost-effective modernization of national energy infrastructure while enhancing grid resilience.  

Operational Excellence

With 17 years of specialized expertise, BYD has delivered over 75GWh of BESS capacity across 350 projects in 110+ global markets. The company's vertically integrated approach – encompassing R&D, manufacturing, deployment, and lifecycle support – ensures stringent quality control and operational reliability for mega-projects exceeding 15GWh.
